George at Asda Wishlist

Now I know some fellow bloggers are not a fan of supermarket clothing. It's always seen as unfashionable or fuddy-duddy but I've found so many good items over the years in Asda. They're great for basic items, such as vests and underwear, but now they've produced some more stylish pieces. Here's a couple of outfits I've picked out that would look really cute.

asda outfits

The first outfit I think would look great on a night out (not that I even drink anymore) or for a meal with family or friends. The sheer blouse is perfect for not having too much skin on show and paired with an on-trend tribal-print skirt, it makes it look less drab and more fab! Simple black heels or ankle boots would look great with this.

The second outfit would be perfect for a shopping day or date night. The skirt can be dressed up or down but by adding the sheer tartan sweater, it makes the look more casual. As you know, I love tartan and this is just a different way of wearing it! Black loafers or smoking slippers would be great for a daytime look and a bright heel would look amazing for a night-time event.

The final look is a more casual look, again for a shopping day or just a casual lunch. Pastels are so in this season and this pink jumper is so cute. Normally I hate wearing pink but this is a nice shade; hopefully it wouldn't wash me out being so pale and all! These trousers are so on-trend too; monochrome is a trend I always love. This jumper would look great with jeans but by pairing it with trousers, it makes it look a lot smarter.

asda other items

Here are my other picks from the website that caught my eye! I love blazers (I've got 3 already) but all of them are structured; these two are more relaxed. The stripey blazer would go great with bright skinnies and the knitted blazer would look amazing over a smart dress. I'm a huge fan of this floral camisole top which is unusual for me because I hate anything floral. I like this because it's dark and more subtle and would go with all of my black skirts! Both dresses are nothing like my usually style. Both the blue and black tie-dye dress and the dark blue dress with sheer inserts would look amazing with a pair of simple black heels. I'm also in need of a new tartan shirt so I don't have to steal my boyfriend's and this red tartan shirt would be great with a pair of skinny jeans and pumps. The geo jacquard top would also look fab with jeans or with a black skirt or shorts.

I love sneakers; I live in my Converse and Keds but I'm also after a pair of pleather sneakers. Either the black ones or the beige ones would fit my style perfectly. On a final note, this bikini (top and bottoms) also fit in with this season's tribal-print trend and the best thing about this bikini? It only costs £6 in total!

My Top 10 TV Shows of All Time

At the moment, I have very little time to watch the tellybox but when I do, I just end up putting on a box set and watching the same TV shows over and over again. So here are my top 10!

1. The O.C.

My favourite TV show of all time. I think I was late to watch this as I was pretty young (about 10) when it first came out. I remember it used to be on Channel 4 every Sunday morning and I think I started watching from Season 3 and just fell in love with it straight away. After buying all the box sets, I watch them to death. Despite it finishing nearly 7 years ago, I still think it portrays the same themes as today's teenage drama shows do. It started in August 2003 and finished in February 2007, yet those four seasons are so amazing.

Favourite season: 3 (where it all started for me!)
Favourite scene: Marissa's death in Ryan's arms at the end of season 3 or Summer and Seth's Spiderman kiss in season 2
Favourite female character: Summer
Favorite male character: Seth

2. Gossip Girl

I fell in love with Gossip Girl from day 1. The clothes, the guys, the clothes. It's certainly the show that I have the most fashion envy when I watch it! It follows the lives of four rich New York kids and the immersion of the less rich Humphreys into their world. It literally has everything a girl could need from a TV show. After six seasons, it was decided that Gossip Girl would be no more. In a way, I wasn't sad. The last two series weren't as good if I'm being honest! I missed Jenny so much!

Favourite season: Season 3 (Jenny's style is amazing here!)
Favourite scene: Jenny's impromptu fashion show at an event in season 2
Favourite female character: Blair or Jenny
Favourite male character: Nate or Chuck

3. One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill started at a similar time to The OC yet lasted an extra 5 seasons! Now I've got all the box sets, I can finally enjoy them from beginning to end. Again, it used to be shown on Channel 4. When it was originally aired, I think I watched the first 4 series religiously and then just watched odd episodes from then on. I'm actually currently watching the box sets and am up to the season three finale. I love how relatable the characters are. In other teenage dramas, it's about kids with money (don't get me wrong, I love those shows) but it's nice to have characters who've had to earn their way in life too.

Favourite season: Seasons 1-3
Favourite scene: It's not a nice scene but the school shooting where Keith and Jimmy die in Season 3 is incredible.
Favourite female character: Brooke
Favourite male character: Lucas

4. Glee

I love musicals, I was brought up with them so a TV show that incorporates them is genius. No matter how many people slate Glee, just look at how many awards it's won! The concept is simple and I love how music is seen as a way of expressing yourself. I didn't know how it would work with some pupils going to New York but I like how it splits the episodes between McKinley and New York.

Favourite season: Season 4 (Rachel's style is to-die for!)
Favourite scene: Rachel singing Don't Rain On My Parade in Season 1 or the whole Madonna episode again in Season 1
Favourite female character: Rachel
Favourite male character: Blaine

5. The Hills

My biggest guilty pleasure. I have all the series on box sets. Yes I know it's all scripted but I love it! I like how with some characters, it focused on school and work and with others, it was all about having a good time. Now it's finished, you can see the characters which are still successful because they went to school! It went downhill when Whitney left and then I stopped watching it when Lauren left. Then it got more about the cat-fights and shopping than it did about friendship.

Favourite season: Seasons 1-4 (I just can't choose!)
Favourite scene: Whitney's last meal with Lauren before departing for New York at the end of season 4 (I cry every time) or any scene where Lauren is arguing with someone!
Favourite female character: Lauren or Whitney
Favourite male character: Brody

6. Downton Abbey

It's not often I like British TV but I make an exception for Downton, mostly because of the costumes! My favourite thing about it is that it shows both sides of the spectrum; we get to see the main house and their daily lives as well as downstairs and the servants. It's also pleasant to see how appreciative the rich are of their servants in this as I find that unusual. It makes me proud that it has won such prestigious awards in the US too.

Favourite season: Seasons 3 and 4
Favourite scene: Again it's not pleasant but the scene where Anna gets raped and the aftermath of events in Season 4, the acting by Joanne Froggatt is sensational.
Favourite female character: Lady Edith
Favourite male character: Tom Branson

7. Keeping Up With The Kardashians

God, I am obsessed with this programme! I usually hate reality TV but this just seems to entertain me so much! Now I know they are famous for being famous but I'm fascinated by how they live. I prefer the earlier seasons but I do love them all! The only thing I don't like is that once The Hills finished, Brody now has hopped onto this show because he's Bruce's son. Get your own show!

Favourite season: All of them!
Favourite scene: the episode about Kim's shopping addiction in Season 3
Favourite female character: Kendall
Favourite male character: Scott or Bruce

8. 90210

A bit similar to The OC in which it follows the lives of rich Californian teens. I've never seen the original series (I'm too young for that) but I imagine it's similar. My only disappointment was when Ethan didn't return for Season 2! And I think Ty should've been a series regular as he is beautiful. The earlier seasons are best as some of the new characters weren't as good as the older ones.

Favourite season: Seasons 1 and 2
Favourite scene:
Favourite female character: Annie or Silver
Favourite male character: Ty or Liam

9. Heroes

When this was first shown on TV, I watched nothing else. I became so obsessed with watching it every week, I'd be knackered the next day for school. It's a bit different from the usual things I watch with it being more sci-fi but I love how it incorporates regular life with superpowers. The characters are just normal people who happen to have these powers which is refreshing.

Favourite season: Season 1 (I like how each character is introduced seperately)
Favourite scene: the episode in which Clair and Peter meet before Sylar tries to kill her in Season 1
Favourite female character: Claire
Favourite male character: Peter

10. Smash

Last but not least is Smash. A TV show about making a musical is just perfect for me. Sadly it ended after two series but it showed the process of making a musical about Marilyn Monroe and the events leading up to opening night. I love the storyline of which is the right Marilyn. Certain cast members were changed after season 1 and I think it got better.

Favourite season: Both
Favourite scene: the season finale of Season 1 which is opening night of the musical
Favourite female character: Karen
Favourite male character: Derek

Being Overwhelmed

Right now, I should feel like the happiest girl in the world. I have a new boyfriend, I'm at uni, I've got a job, I have money yet something's just not sitting right with me. I feel tired and moody and emotional most of the time. I have no motivation to get out of bed most mornings. I'm skipping uni, I barely see my friends, I'm barely eating properly. What's wrong with me? I have no idea. Yes I've had a really bad cold for the past two weeks but I shouldn't feel this bad.

I sit and cry quite a lot for no apparent reason like just now. Like just the littlest things will set me off. I argue with my mum, that will make me cry. I gain a couple of pounds in weight, I'll cry. I'm so stressed out about everything that I just don't want to do anything. The problem being is I know I'll get even more stressed out if I leave everything until last minute but I never learn. I've been balancing lectures, uni work, actual work, my boyfriend, my friends, my family, my Performing Arts society at uni, exercise and god knows what else for so long now that it's all gotten too much. But even now that I only work weekends or that I barely exercise or that I never see my friends, it still feels like too much. I schedule every day and still have no time. That's when I just curl up in a ball and cry.

I'm such an organised person yet I feel so disorganised all of the time. My diary is planned perfectly every day, I know where I have to be at what time. Nowadays I feel like the only time I get to myself is when I see my boyfriend. I have to make time for him because it's new and I'll lose him if I don't. The only time when I'm truly happy is when I'm with him. He helps me forget about my busy life for a couple of hours and helps me relax and just really be in the moment and I love him for that. He puts up with a lot of my shitty moods yet loves me unconditionally for all of my flaws.

I really just need to find some motivation from somewhere. University is the main issue. The issue is I hate it. I just hate it. I find the modules interesting, I just hate going to uni. I don't think it helps that I know exactly what I want to do when I leave and it's over a year and a half away. But I'm paying £9000 a year so I can't quit now. I won't quit. I make a to-do list every week of what work I need to do and just never have the energy to complete everything. This semester I promised myself I'd be organised and get my work done and my essays started early yet I haven't, at all.

The fact that I hate my job isn't helping either. Well I don't hate my job, I hate some of the people there who talk down to me as if I'm about 12. If I was the youngest there, I could understand but I'm not. I've been there since April last year so nearly a year now, and they still treat me like a newbie as if I don't know how to do my job. Certain people there make me feel so small and irrelevant and unwanted that I would love to just pack the whole thing in but I need the money.

I've started arguing with my mum on a daily basis now. We used to be very close but right now, every single little thing is annoying me. Even my dad is at breaking point. It doesn't help that we plan on putting our house up for sale soon so there are a million and one little jobs that need doing and my mum has been no help whatsoever even though she's the one who moans that nothing ever gets done.

I know I will get through this funk eventually, I just hope it's sooner rather than later. And also to those who are thinking about going to uni, really think about it and consider your options. If I'd have really researched my future career and found the course I want to do after uni before I'd applied for uni, I would've chosen that or got a full-time job somewhere. Obviously some careers require a degree but quite a lot don't. They require drive and passion and dedication, those aren't things you can learn on a degree programme. Uni is 3+ years for most people, it's a lot of money so it's one of the biggest decisions you'll ever have to make.

This post is a way of releasing all the stress that has been built up inside me for a while and maybe this will allow me to relax more. And don't mistake me having a rant for me being ungrateful. I am so blessed to have such an amazing family and friends and boyfriend who stick by me no matter what. I love them all dearly, I just distance myself from people when I'm not in a good place so I don't bring them down with me. And if anyone has any tips about de-stressing or anything, please let me know!

Boohoo.com Wishlist

Whilst skiving off uni because I'm having one of those days, I decided to do what I do best: scour the web for new clothes! Having just got back from  a trip to London (I'll blog about that soon) and spending too much there, I probably shouldn't! I had a look on Boohoo, a site I often visit but never buy from. I saw so many cute clothes on the website, it's ridiculous!

PATTERNED DRESSES

I love tartan. I wish I owned more of it than I do. I think tartan dresses look great when they have a feminine silhouette so you can pair them with black tights and biker boots and not look too punk. Also, to smarten them up, a black blazer and heels work wonders. In fairness, I'm not usually a fan of pattern; because I'm petite, patterns can be overwhelming on my tiny frame. I love this leopard print dress too and I never like leopard print! I think I like this one because it's very subtle; usually leopard print is very in-your-face and loud whereas this one is a bit more demure. The polka-dot dress is super cute too; I'd pair it with tights and pumps probably!

BLOCK-COLOURED DRESSES

I do like a plain-coloured dress; they're perfect for adding accessories without looking too over-the-top. The first three dresses are very sexy but paired with a cardi or jacket, they would look cute. The fourth one I would wear to a wedding or an event similar; it would look great with a nude clutch bag and heels! Now I love bib collars; I own a few items with collars anyway but this dress would fit perfectly in my wardrobe!

All these items can be seen on my Polyvore! Thanks Boohoo, I now see a shopping spree approaching!

Today's Outfit 13/02/2014

So last night was my first Valentine's date. Because we're a new couple, we decided to keep it low-key and just went for Curry Club so we could watch the rugby match too. Yes it was a cheap date but I don't need flowers and teddies. We both decided to make a bit of effort to dress up and I did have a dress and heels but I twisted my ankle walking down the stairs before I left the house so I had to put on a pair of trust flats instead!

I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's Day; I believe that there are 364 other days to show someone you love them (which my boyfriend is so good at) but it felt good to dress up for the night. I don't drink anymore so I have a load of dresses that need wearing because I don't go on nights out! I know the picture quality is a bit rubbish but I am wearing a burgundy dress. It's got a tulip skirt and cut-outs at the side and it gives me some shape. Because it is so ruddin' cold right now, I had to wear it with black tights; otherwise I would've frozen to death! My boyfriend approved of my dress which is a good sign (he's a VERY smart dresser!).
