Hull boy competes in final of Chinese speaking competition

A Hull boy has competed in the Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition in London.

Liam Havercroft, 12, of Amethyst Road, was joined by his Mandarin teacher from Archbishop Sentamu Academy and travelled to the capital last week to take part in the HSBC-run final.

Despite not winning, Liam thoroughly enjoyed his day and loves learning the language.
He said: “I’m so glad I got to spend the day at the competition.

“Meeting the other finalists and getting to take part in a UK-wide final was great fun.”
