The Good Guy

Why do they always say the good guy finishes last? Not in my book he doesn't. Doesn't every girl deserve to be treated right and have a guy love her completely, for all of her flaws as well as the beauty? You could say I'm a hopeless romantic. You would be right. I'm not saying I believe in Prince Charming and all that but I do believe in commitment and loyalty and affection. On the other hand, I'm a total commitment-phobe. How can I say I want to be with just one person for the foreseeable future? The thought of being someones everything scares me. I like the chase and dating and the excitement of seeing someone. But what if that goes away? Will you always be excited to see that one person? Despite my love of romance and devotion, I also want passion. I need to be attracted to someone not just by what they look like or how they are as a person, but sexually. I know that sounds strange or whatever, but if seeing that person doesn't make you want to get into bed with them, what's the point? I'm not saying that's the most important part of finding someone but it is key to me. And to those who say looks aren't important, they are the first thing that attracts you to a person so I'd say they are. So do I commit to one person or do I play the field? I hate that sometimes I can be both sides of the spectrum, it makes me question and worry about everything which isn't healthy.

I'm the girl who always goes for the wrong guy though. More often than not, I'm forced into choosing between two guys and I go for the guy who I think is best for me. This is genuinely true. No guy will come along for ages and then two will appear in the picture at the same time. Every time the one I choose turns out to be the nice guy who says all the right things and then it turns out he isn't such a nice guy after all. It's never one huge thing, it's usually a sequence of lots of little things: stories I hear about him from others, forgetting or cancelling dates, not seeing me at all. This also makes me a hypocrite. When I find the right guy who I plan to stay with, I find myself doing these things because I'm afraid to commit. I'll cancel plans because I'm too nervous to see them or I'll act all off with them because I'm too shy. Often this screws things up for me. The guy thinks I don't like him when in fact, it's quite the opposite. I've also got a tendency to think before I speak, sometimes I say things I don't mean because I'm in the heat of the moment. I might be mad at something else or hurt and I'll lash out (not physically, just verbally!).

I also have a fear of being seen out in public with a guy. I'm embarrassed of people looking at me, judging me or the guy, just generally people knowing my business. But then when we're behind closed doors, I'm besotted. Only twice have I ever felt comfortable with a guy to want to be seen out with him and one of them is my current squeeze (he knows who he is). When I'm with him, I forget about everything else going on in my life and solely focus on being in that moment. For someone who worries about everything, this is a hard task but when someone wants you and only you, it's hard not to just be there fully. When he looks at you like you are the only person he wants to be with, when he remembers all the little details you've only told him once, when he tells you he loves your body and shows you that he does, you get the picture. When you've got one of those guys, hold onto him before someone else whisks him away.

It's also okay to not have a type. I do. Taller than me (which isn't hard, I'm merely 5"2), athletic (i.e. plays a sport and/or goes to the gym regularly), usually dark-haired (what can I say, I like a brunette!), smart (I need to be able to hold a conversation with this guy), dresses well and looks good in a suit (that's obvious really), funny (although never funnier than me), a guy that gets along with his family, especially his mum (I'll want him to get along with my family too plus how a guy treats his mum should show an indication of how he'll treat you) and someone who can be both cute and sexy. I know guys hate being called cute but finding a guy who is both sweet and then has a cheeky side is probably the most important thing to me. But even if you don't have a type, just make sure you find the guy who treats you like a princess because we deserve it! Although don't forget, you need to treat your prince right or you won't be his princess no more!

So I say to hell with the stereotype that the good guy is boring and will never get the girl. The good guy knows how to treat a girl with the respect she deserves, he'll never leave her questioning his actions, he's dependable and trustworthy and most of all he won't break her heart.

Holiday to Chester Outfits

So last week, I went on holiday for a few days with my parents to Chester. I know what most of you are thinking, Why didn't you go abroad with your friends to a sunny destination? Well, firstly I don't have many friends, secondly they all work full time, thirdly I don't have the cash for that sort of holiday and finally I hate beach holidays. I want to go sightseeing and shopping not just waste a week sunbathing and partying! So here are a few outfits I wore on my week away

First of all, I wore this outfit for a meal out for my dad's birthday. I decided not to take any heels with me because I knew I wouldn't need them! Here, I've paired a baggy white vest with my black pleather pleated skirt that I love dearly. I wanted to look dressy but not dressed up! By adding a gold heart chain, it gives the look a girly touch.

The day I wore this I believe we went to the zoo so light clothing was a must! Another band tee, The Cribs, and black denim shorts were perfect for that. I wore my navy Converse and my backpack to finish off the look

This outfit I wore when we spent the day shopping in Liverpool. It is actually inspired by an outfit I saw Rachel Berry wear in Glee but I added my own twist to it. Boyfriend tees are slowly becoming my favourite and even more so when they actually are your boyfriends'! This one is actually from Primark but it's really comfy to wear. Paired with smart black shorts, they give the outfit a more dressed-up feel but by adding the neon pink belt, it keeps the outfit looking fresh. My trusty tan Clarks brogues finish off the look.

I wore this outfit on a trip to Llandudno which meant a fair bit of walking. I actually bought this top the previous day from Hollister! I do find the shop quite expensive so I tend to head straight for the sale section; I love the feel of their t-shirts and they wash great! Again, I went for my black denim shorts and Converse for a practical look.

This I wore on the last day for a walk around Chester itself. I thought it would be an appropriate look for a walk round a town with such history. This Union Jack vest and denim skater skirt probably don't even go together but I though they looked cute with my brogues!

Finally, I wore this outfit for travelling back in the car on Saturday. A baggy grey tee and black skater skirt look cute but are still mega comfy! I wore flat shoes so I could easily slip them off on the journey!

Today's Outfit 09/07/2013

Thank God summer has finally arrived! Time for me to get my legs out and get a tan, although the latter is debatable. Today I went on a mini road trip with one of my best friends to Bridlington so my outfit is as follows!

This dress I usually only wear on a night out but it's really thin and I thought that would be perfect for a sunny day! It's a deep purple chiffon with a satin lining and I love the beading on the neckline which make it a bit dressier for a daytime dress. I didn't plan on wearing this dress today but the dress I originally had on, I got suncream all over it :'( And these pumps I am getting my money's worth as I'm starting to wear them more often!

Today's Outfit 04/07/2013- Night

So last night, I went for a meal with my old work crew as a member of staff I used to work with has her baby due soon! Because we only went to my local pub, I decided to dress down; it's always full of old men in there and wearing heels just looks too over-the-top!

Again apologies for the rubbish picture quality, I've just got a new camera but don't know how to work it properly! Now these leather leggings are actually from the Kardashian collection at Dorothy Perkins and they fit like a glove. They're not the easiest item of clothing to put on I'll admit but once they're on, they're so snug! I think leggings, especially leather ones, need to be tight and fit well around your thighs and bum. One of my pet peeves is when I see girls wearing baggy leggings or even worse see-through ones! I'm also a firm believer in pairing leggings with a longer top, just long enough so that it covers your bum. Leggings are not a substitute for trousers, ladies! This vest I believe is from Republic, I've had it a while so I'm unsure! I've finished the look off with my pale pink ballet flats with studs on the front of them, a nod to my rockier style.

Today's Outfit 04/07/2013- Day

Happy Independence Day! Because I secretly wish I was American, I donned an American-themed outfit to celebrate!

I've been obsessed with this beige jumper with the American flag on it since I got it last year from River Island. It's super comfy and baggy! I couldn't tell how hot it was outside so I thought I'd cover up on top in order to get my legs out! I've paired this jumper with some light blue Forever 21 shorts that I've also had a while. They're short without being too short! To finish off the look, I paired it with my trusty navy Converse because we all know how comfy Chucks are!

My Wishlist 04/07/2013

There's nothing more I love more than just picking up clothes off the racks and trying them on. The best way to do this is to not look at the price tag and then you just pick up what you like! Because of my lack of money in my bank account, I did exactly this yesterday.

Whilst in Outfit in the Monks Cross shopping complex in York, I spotted these denim shorts and wedges. Now I know there's a lot of denim hotpants out there at the moment and whilst I love denim shorts, I'm not a fan of them being too short that your bum is on display! But nevertheless I thought I'd see what all the hype was about and try a pair on. These fit like a glove and they actually weren't too short; I was pleasantly surprised. However, when I sent these photos to the guy I'm seeing, he said they were too short because he didn't want others checking me out! (Sorry C, had to be done!) The other thing that put me off was that they were £30 which I think is a bit expensive for a pair of shorts! The other item I tried on were these gorgeous wedges. As soon as I saw them on the shelf, I knew I had to try them on! After doing so, I discovered that they were too high for me and because I have narrow feet, one of the straps was too baggy across my foot. When buying heels, I always try to make sure my foot is secure and has enough support via straps/buckles/zips etc. or I end up never wearing them!

Today's Outfit 03/07/2013

So yesterday, I spent the day in York with one of my best friends. We had planned on going to the seaside but the weather looked a bit iffy so shopping was the next best option! Despite having little money at the moment, I couldn't resist a few purchases. Here was my outfit for the day:

This outfit is so versatile; I've worn it here for shopping in but add a pair of killer heels and some statement jewellery and it's perfect for a rocky night out look! Now band tees are something I collect, but only unless I love the band, not just because I like the picture like most people do! Here is my Beatles one from H&M which I've had for ages paired with my H&M lace skirt which I think is on its last legs! I love this skirt because it pretty much goes with every top in my wardrobe! I wear this skirt to uni, out shopping, for nights out; it's so wearable. And it only cost me £12.99 so it's been a great cost-per-wear item! The look is finished off with my black studded smoking slippers and my electric blue watch.
