Today's Outfit 26/06/2013

Today I'm up bright and early (partially because I'm struggling to sleep at the moment) to go shopping with my mum for our trip to Chester in a couple of weeks' time. Once again, I will be acting as my mum's personal shopper and hopefully picking up a few buys for myself this time!

Sorry for the rubbish camera quality, my camera's broken at the moment and my mirror needs a good clean I think! So for shopping today, I've gone for my new favourite item in my wardrobe, my light blue shirt from New Look. I love sale shopping and this only cost me a fiver! The best thing about a shirt is that it instantly makes any outfit look smart, similarly to a blazer. In order to keep my look young and fresh, I've paired it with bright pink skinnies, again from New Look. I've pretty much worn these to death in the past year; they're so comfy as they're a bit thinner than regular jeans so the fabric doesn't cling to my legs and when you're shopping all day, that's the last thing you want!

To finish off the look, I've gone for my nude studded-toe pumps to complete my full New Look-bought outfit (I'm like a walking spokesperson for them today!) in order to have comfy feet all day. They give my outfit a bit of a rocky edge because of the studs which of course I love!

Today's Outfit 22/06/2013

So after a long morning at work, I decided to go out for the afternoon with the parents. This outfit was literally the most-rushed outfit I've ever worn!

Yes these are shameless selfies taken in a supermarket changing room but I had no choice! In my wardrobe, one of my go-to pieces is always a band tee. Now I'm not one of those people who just has band t-shirts for the sake of it, I genuinely love all the bands that I buy merchandise of! So this band, Page 44, are one of my favourites. I saw them a few years ago supporting The Blackout and have been a fan ever since so go and check them out! Great music and great guys too I must admit :) So I've paired this navy tee with my new black denim shorts. I've been after a pair for aaaaaages but everywhere I've looked, they've been those bum shorts, you know the really short ones where your bum is hanging out in them- hence the term 'bum shorts'. Despite having a cute bum, I like to keep it under clothing (there is a time and a place for getting your bum out!) and these shorts from H&M are exactly what I've been looking for! Because I was in a rush, I just had to pin my hair back in a ponytail and didn't have time for any jewellery! :(

To finish off the look though, I paired my outfit with my new Keds. Now I've been obsessed with having a pair since I saw Taylor Swift was the new spokesperson for the brand and she happens to have this exact pair! Unfortunately, I can't wear trainers without socks so I went for some grey trainer socks that have a cute cream-coloured frill around the top to give my outfit a girly touch.

Today's Outfit 15/06/2013

Despite it now being Monday, I'm doing an outfit post from Saturday as I haven't had a chance to go online this weekend! So on Saturday night, I went out for food with the whole family to celebrate my parents 25th wedding anniversary. The evening was lovely, despite my excessively loud family and the fact that I hadn't had much sleep in the past 48 hours! So here's my outfit :)

So only until I'd walked out of the door had I realised myself and my parents were all wearing an all-black outfit; so much for a celebration! I did have three outfits planned but seeing as it was only a pub meal, I decided to go for something not so dressy but still smart. First off is a black cotton sleeveless shirt from that I originally bought for work for the summer months but thought it would go perfect with my black leather pleated skirt here from Forever 21. By adding different textures of black, it keeps the outfit from looking completely dull and drab. Because I'm so petite, I can only really wear short skirts which I don't mind because I think I have pretty long, slim legs! To avoid the funeral look, I paired the outfit with my new red suede heels from New Look; however because I've worn them once on a night out, they're starting to look a bit worse for wear! To finish the look off, I went with multiple bracelets, rings and turquoise nails because I didn't think a necklace would sit well with the neckline of a shirt.

CMT Music Awards 2013

Two nights ago was another music genre's award show. This time it was country music in the public eye once more as the awards go to country music videos and performances from the past year. As country is one of my favourite music genres, I thought I took an interest in the red carpet looks so here are a few that stood out to me!

My best dressed goes to AnnaSophia Robb. The Carrie Diaries actress gets its spot on in this George Chakras dress which fits her figure perfectly. The colour looks to me like nude mixed with lilac which seems like an odd choice but it really compliments her skintone. I'm a huge fan of lace but in order to keep it from looking old, the cut of the item is crucial. By having a halter neck and an open back, it keeps the look fresh; after all, she is only 19! I also love the mesh bottom, it just gives the dress a youthful touch. Paired with Brian Atwood heels, she has just the right amount of sparkle going on. Now I want to bring your attention to her AMAZING clutch bag.

Now this I have to get my hands on some day! If every woman owned this, they would have the neatest and cleanest bag in the world. You'd never have excess clutter or random bits and pieces in this or the entire public would see it! I like the idea of putting a thin make-up bag in there to keep all the contents from being shown completely.

Next up is one of my favourite singers, Carrie Underwood. Not only am I a huge fan of her music, her red carpet style is flawless. She knows exactly what suits her and she always dresses appropriately for the event. Now it's unusual to see shorts on the red carpet but I love this matching suit! I also love the sheer panels at the side of the shorts and at the top of the jacket; it's a classy take on sexy which sums her style up perfectly. Because the shorts and jacket combo are so eye-catching, plain peeptoe shoes don't distract from the main outfit!

During her performance, she then opted for this princess-style dress. This is country style down to a tee, sweet and sparkly. It's not often you see sequins in a lattice-style pattern but on top of the pale pink, they make the dress look expensive. And those shoes! Pale pink satin peeptoe heels remind me of ballet and that's a good thing!

Newcomer Jana Kramer is another one of my best dressed. I think this dress would only work on someone with olive skin and dark hair because of the dark colouring and boy does she look amazing! This dress is understated sexy rather than revealing sexy by showing off the decolletage and I'm a fan of the side-swept hair. The only thing I'm not the biggest lover of is the feathered hemline or maybe that's just because I don't like feathers on clothing!

Another newcomer, Kacey Musgraves, opted for a shorter dress, but again got the sequinned memo! This pale pink colour has been seen on many a red carpet this season but this is definitely a more wearable piece! I'd definitely wear this to a fancy party and probably style it pretty similarly too! I like it when shorter dresses are paired with a longer sleeve because I'm a firm believer in not showing too much skin. Simple hair and nude heels keep the dress as the main focus.

Now it is a well known fact that I'm obsessed with Taylor Swift's style in general but this disappointed me. I'm not a fan of the high-low hemline and this dress just look ill-fitting to me. If it was more fitting then maybe I'd like it. It's not that she looks bad, it's just I'm used to seeing her on the red carpet and instantly loving her outfit. It doesn't help that I don't like the hair up like that or the shoes!

Next up is the presenter of the night, Kristen Bell. Another material I like is leather but I usually wear it to add an edgy element to an outfit. Here, it looks super girly because of the pleated A-line skirt and the cutout details. Showing off her new body after baby, I think she looks so good in this dress!

Last but not least is Nicole Kidman. Now I really like this outfit but my problem is is that it's not very dressy, at least not for an awards show! However Nicole has this thing where she dresses understated for her husband Keith Urban's events so that he gets the spotlight and then dresses more alluring for her own film premieres which I suppose is very supportive but this dress just comes off as bland to me! Don't get me wrong, I'd wear it on a night out but I'd have opted for something a bit more glamourous for such an event as this. Love the shoes though, and I'm not usually a big lover of white shoes!
