My Best Dressed Women of 2013

I've always been obsessed with celebrity style but this year especially, I really got into keeping up-to-date with what the stars are wearing and noting their outfits down so I could come up with something similar myself! Not only do these ladies look fabulous on the red carpet when they've been styled by another but they all have amazing everyday style and an eye for fashion. I've compiled this list as it sort of represents what fashion I'm into too as these are my favourite looks of theirs! I will add that this list is in no particular order!

Allison Williams
By far, this is my favourite look of hers this year. The Girls actress wore this diamond-encrusted black Kaufmanfranco number to the Grammys and looked stunning. She's done a lot of strapless gowns this year on the red carpet but this is the pick of them all; I love the way it fits her figure perfectly! Finished off with sparkly earrings, a couple of cocktail rings, cascading curls and smoky eyes, I cannot fault this look.

Jessica Alba
Don't get me wrong, I love her red carpet style but I am so obsessed with her everyday style. I like that she can wear a monochromatic look one day and then the next day she'll switch it up and wear a load of colour. She's a massive fan of coloured skinny jeans and flats which are perfect for the school run! Only this year have I really started to appreciate her dress sense and now I follow her fashion very closely.

Jessica Lawrence
This was Jennifer Lawrence's year. I am literally obsessed with the woman right now; she is a breath of fresh air in Hollywood as is her style. This was her Oscars in this white Dior Haute Couture gown. The look is flawless from head to toe as is the lady wearing it. The fact that she fell up the stairs on the way to collecting her Best Actress trophy makes me love her even more. I hope she continues to shine in 2014!

Lily Collins
Lily Collins has owned street style this year! I love how she can rock jeans and boots and do so all the time! She always looks so chilled and stylish when papped and so put-together with her clothes. Her red-carpet style can be a bit out-there sometimes but I think she looks fabulous!

Miranda Kerr
Another woman's street style I'm in love with is Miranda Kerr's. Similarly to Jessica Alba, being a mum means comfortable and easy fashion and boy does she know how to dress. I know she's a model and will have had loads of advice and that but she manages to make every item of clothing look impeccable. I like how she can rock a jean, a skirt, shorts, a dress, literally anything looks good on her!

Ashley Madekwe
A fellow blogger! Of course she is also an actress but she is a style blogger and I am an avid reader! I like that she wears a mixture of high street and designer and isn't afraid of some colour. Definitely one to watch in the years to come!

Hailee Steinfeld
At a mere 17 years of age, Hailee is always up high on the fashion lists. Here she is at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party in an Armani dress which is actually midnight blue with A Maje shirt around her waist. Yes the dress would look cute on its own but I love how she takes risks with fashion and the shirt makes it look young and cool. Fashion points to you, Miss Steinfeld!

Olivia Palermo
Olivia has been one of my style icons for ages ever since I saw her in The City as Whitney Port's nemisis. Her street style is always so polished, which it should be for someone who works in fashion! She is the best accessorised woman on the planet; she is always armed with sunglasses and a fabulous handbag!

Selena Gomez
Selena just always seems to get it right on the red carpet! I love how now she's 21, her style has matured too and she's starting to dress her shape well. And she's starting to take more risks which is great to see! She has an amazing figure, so why not show it off?! I can only see her style going from strength to strength as she gets older.

Taylor Swift
Oh my idol. As most of you will know, I worship Taylor Swift. I love everything about her including her style! She's started experimenting a bit more this year with different necklines and hemlines and still continues to look elegant in anything she wears. I love her street style just as much as her red carpet style and it's very rare I don't like one of her outfits. Biased? I think not! ;-)

Maisie Williams
Maisie is definitely one to watch in the coming years. She's only 16 and already a part of one of the biggest TV shows right now, Game of Thrones. She's not often papped because she's a hard-working girl but I expect we'll see more of her soon!

Clemence Posey
What a fashionista Clemence is! So effortlessly stylish, must be the French way I guess! It's not often you see her on a red carpet apart from fashion weeks but I think that makes her appearances even more anticipated! Just so cool.

Rachel Bilson
I've been a Rachel Bilson fan for years, ever since she starred as Summer in The OC. I think the main reason I love her style is because we're a very similar body type and height. Saying that, clothes look a lot better on her than they do me! She loves denim and her street style never looks out of place. Uber-chic.

Lea Michele
So Lea has had a tough year this year. With the death of Cory Monteith she hasn't featured on many red carpets since which is understandable. However, I've followed her style since Glee started and have been so happy with her style evolution. She knows how to dress her body type and this outfit is one of my favourites. I think it's because it's versatile for many occasions and I could easily put a similar outfit together myself! I love her character Rachel's style on the show too as well as Lea's personal everyday style.

The Jenner Sisters
I'm sorry but these two are the most stylish in that family! I love their everyday style just as much as their red carpet looks and know they will continue to impress me as they get older. I like how they share clothes and are already that stylish that they've designed their own range of clothing for PacSun. What I like even more is that they actually wear the line as seen above!

The Girls of Pretty Little Liars

I know it's technically cheating but I love all 4 of these girls style equally! The show has catapulted them to stardom which means various red carpet events, at which all of them look fabulous, and regularly being papped doing everyday things! Either way, all 4 look super-stylish whatever they're doing and I imagine they'll continue to do so!

2013: My Year in Review

So 2013 is coming to a close which gives me a chance to reflect on how good/bad my year has been. I hope all of you reading this have had a lovely year and I hope next year is even better!

January was a pretty dull month for me with studying for exams and doing very little for my birthday.

February, I went to see All Time Low in Birmingham with my best friend Amy. We had very little time to do any shopping when we were there so we've said we'll definitely have to go back there at some point! Later on that month, we went to see the touring production of Hairspray at our local theatre and it was amazing! Mark Benton was so good as Edna Turnblad as was Marcus Collins off of the X Factor as Seaweed.

March, I pretty much spent the whole month concentrating on uni and revising for exams. I'm very serious about my grades, people!

April was the month I said Adios to my job at Card Factory, which I'd had since I was 16 and Bonjour to my new job at Clarks, the shoe shop!

May, pretty much the same as March- revision and exams, waaaaah!

June was the month I really got into fitness and working out most days. How times can change!

July, I went away to Chester for a week with my parents. For a family holiday, it was actually rather fun!

August was another fitness month for me. Fitness and lots of shifts at work :(

September, I took my mum to London for her 50th birthday. In 3 days we managed to fit in Wicked, sightseeing, Madame Tussauds and a whole load of shopping!

October, I went to my first gig on my own after being stood up by a certain someone! Thankfully Canterbury made me forget about my shit life for a couple of hours with their awesome tunes! What a band! I also decided that in my second year at uni, I was going to make more of a effort on the social side by joining the Performing Arts society. This turned out to be my best decision of the year. I mean, I don't go to the socials but it has rekindled my love of performing! The end of this month also saw the start of the Rugby League World Cup. Despite only going to one game, I tried to watch as many as possible on the TV and thought the whole tournament was a massive success!

November was a manic month with society rehearsals, uni and work but then near the end, I did manage to find some time to date. I've been keeping it quiet all this time because I didn't want to jinx it but I have started seeing someone and our first date was in November. We had a lovely night bowling and chatting, it felt very relaxed for a first date! The day after I managed to squeeze in a gig with my dad and Amy, Nickelback in Leeds! In November I also made my second trip to London for the year with my best friend Ellie. We had a fab time at the Harry Potter studios and watching Les Mis and spent the majority of the other 2 days shopping!

December, rehearsals went up a notch for the show which was on the 10th and it went amazing! I'm so proud to be a member of the society! I've also managed to squeeze in a couple more dates with my guy and things are getting pretty serious now. Hopefully 2014 will be a good year for us!

Despite all of this, I have had a tough year. I've been coping with various physical and mental illnesses and having my feelings go up and down constantly has not helped. As soppy as it sounds, I'd like to thank those that have stuck by me throughout the year (you know who you are) and those who I've met towards the end of the year who now mean a great deal to me. I might not have had a huge year in terms of plans but I have learnt a lot about myself and what I want in life. I'm not big on resolutions but next year I aim to stick with my fitness habits and enjoy myself more; sometimes I get so stressed out with uni and work that I forget about all the other good things I have in my life! I also want to make more memories with my friends and to see them more! We're all so busy with our own lives, we need to make more time for each other! So this year has been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions for me; I'm hoping next year will be a bit more steady so I can start to enjoy who I am and where I want to be.

My November in Pictures: Part 2

So I wanted to do a special blog post about my recent visit to London. One of my best friends and I travelled down on the Thursday and came back late Sunday evening. It was such a fun trip and we managed to squeeze so much into a short space of time!

Thursday
On the first day, we arrived in London at around half 1, unpacked at the hotel (Travelodge Kings Cross) and went straight into the heart of London. We ended up just walking up and down Regent Street first and having tea at an Italian restaurant. Never again. The massive poster outside said "£12.95 for 2 courses" which we didn't think was too bad. Then when we got inside we realised there was a 12.5% service charge on top of that! The restaurant's just by the Piccadilly Theatre which is currently showing Dirty Dancing on stage. The food wasn't too bad for me but my friend was not impressed. On the night, we had tickets to see Les Mis. The show was incredible but as you can see on the photo below, our view was very restricted and because quite a bit happened in the bottom left of the stage, we missed a chunk of the show! I'd recommend getting more central tickets specifically in that theatre!

1. Adios Hull!
2. The Queen's Theatre in London :D
3. Our view for Les Mis!

Friday
This was the main reason for taking the trip to London- the Harry Potter Studios. After a delayed train, we managed to get there from Watford Junction station via the shuttle bus (only £2 return!) and spent a few hours there. We were booked in for 10 and left around 2ish. I'd hoped we'd be there longer but I was actually a bit disappointed by the tour. I felt for the £29 entrance fee plus all the travel expenses, there could've been more. Yes, there were a lot of props and costumes but I felt something was missing. The highlight for me was right at the end when there is a makeshift Ollivander's wand shop and there are thousands of boxes on the wall and they are emblazoned with cast and crew members names. Anyone who has helped on a film has a box there. We spent about half an hour scowering these boxes for various names and found most of the cast! After a trip back to the hotel, we ended up shopping for a bit on Oxford Street and getting halfway up the left side up to Forever 21 and then gave up, went to Wetherspoons and went back to the hotel.

1. En route to Watford Junction for the Harry Potter Studios!
2. My ticket
1. Sian Reed, Slytherin student.
2. Ellie and I waiting in the cinema room ready to enter the studios
3. & 4. Selfies in the Mirror of Erised.
1. I'm a bit of a loser.
2. Look out!
3. Everyone always says I look like Katie Bell!
4. They didn't have any jobs going unfortunately.
1. Hogwarts looks so pretty at Christmas
2. Ellie and I outside Hogwarts
1. I asked for potato wedges at McDonalds and got a few fries thrown in. Bonus!
2. The Lock In Your Love wall in Gap. #selfish #mememe

Saturday
This was probably my favourite day. Having been to London a couple of times before, I'd never actually been to Camden. So off we went there; unfortunately, the tube wasn't running to Camden so we had to walk but it was worth it. I could've spent hours wandering through the market and we found the best bargain of our trip there too- a £4 mix and match Chinese takeaway. It was heavenly! After that, we hoped on a tube to Knightsbridge to go to Harrods. Then because the tube lines from there were either jammed or not working at all, we decided to walk our way back to Oxford Street via Hyde Park then continued shopping on Oxford Street and managed to finish the whole left side. After a tiring day, we couldn't wait to go to sleep!

1. The amazing clutch bag I found in a boutique in Camden. #obsessed
2. The new rings I bought in Camden market.
3. Our freebies from the streets of London Praise you Jesus.
4. Harrods!

Sunday
We managed to scour every shop we wanted to on the right side of Oxford Street in only a few hours so we ended up going back down Regent Street. By 4pm we were knackered so it was time for Nando's. Whilst we were in there, we were seated next to a mother and son from Hull. It was so strange to be away from home and here that delightful Hull accent. They were lovely and we ended up chatting to them for a couple of hours. After seeing an old friend in Kings Cross before our train, we boarded and very nearly fell asleep on the way home!

1. Ellie and I before we set off for our last day in London Town.
2. Destination Christmas= Selfridges.
3. Obsessed with these Costa cups!
4. Sad to be going home :'(

I think for a four day trip, we managed to get a lot of activities in; that's why we both took the Monday off work/uni! It wasn't the cheapest trip but it was definitely worth it!

My November in Pictures: Part 1

So I'm a bit delayed in blogging because I've been so crazy busy with uni and work and rehearsals for my society at uni! Now I only have one more assignment and then I am done for this semester (well other than revision for exams) so now I can breathe a sigh of relief that I have more free time! So here is part 1 of my November plans!

1. My amazing new heels from Matalan which are actually a Christmas present, gutted I can't wear them beforehand!
2. A selfie because I was bored and tired. Story of my life usually!
3. A book I spent a full night reading just so I could understand Victorian novels easier. (I'm doing an English Literature module at uni and I have no idea why I picked it!)
4. A pre-workout/yoga pic. Think this was probably the last time I did any exercise! As you can tell, my body needs a lot of work!
5. This photo was taken before my tap rehearsal at uni. I'm part of the Performing Arts society and we're doing a tap routine to Fat Sam's Grand Slam from Bugsy Malone in it!
6. The delightful cake my daddy and I made. It's a chocolate cake with a million and one chocolate sprinkles on the top!
7. The view from one of the cafe windows at uni. I was just sat there drinking my hot chocolate and thought I'd capture it. No filter either!
8. Another selfie, just because I can.
So there was the majority of my November, next installment will follow soon! :)

Winter Fashion Picks for Students

Now it's November and the temperature has dropped significantly up here in Hull, I've found that my wardrobe is still full of summer items and I've got very little to wear for the next few months! The good thing is I'm going to London next week and aim to purchase my full winter wardrobe in a couple of days (au revoir bank balance!).

But before I go into the basic items that every student should have, I suggest signing up to the free newsletters on all of your favourite clothes sites. They're always having offers on but they tend to only last for 1-7 days so you have to be quick! This means you have to check your emails on a regular basis; I tend to log on every morning first thing just in case I only get 24 hours to purchase things! If they're not offering money off on clothes, they sometimes offer free next day delivery or something similar.

Paying for delivery costs is the one thing I hate about online shopping so I always take advantage of it! I've found the best shops for online discounts via newsletters are New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Asos, Boohoo, Missguided and Daisy Street. Most of them send daily emails featuring items with money off or the new trends for the season. Obviously taking full advantage of student discount and UNiDAYS helps if there are no offers on!

Anyways, here are the items that I think every girl, especially students, should have in their wardrobe for the colder months!

Top half

Basics
Because it's so cold, I am a huge fan of thermals. Yes thermals! Now I know you're probably thinking, aren't they for old people, but seriously, they are a godsend when it's freezing! I fully appreciate the fact that they're not the cutest looking items of clothing but they keep you warm. The picture below is similar to the one I own myself; it's £7 from Tesco and is great for layering under jumpers and cardigans instead of a normal t-shirt. Once you've got something over the top of it, no-one can see it's a thermal!
Thermal long-sleeved t-shirt, £7, Tesco
Another basic I love for winter are just simple vest tops. This is great because you can re-use the ones you bought in the summer! These are ideal for layering under baggier tops and having a tighter first layer ensures the heat stays in! I love wearing a tight vest and wearing a baggier vest/top over the top of it. If it does get too warm, you can always take layers off! The one below is from Forever 21; it costs £2 and comes in 15 different colours! For basic t-shirts, just go to Primark! They'll be a similar price to this one.
Basic scoop neck cami, £2, Forever 21
A warm jumper/sweatshirt
I'm definitely more of a sweatshirt girl, just because jumpers tend to be made of weird materials which reacts badly with my sensitive skin! But either way, I own a few of both now. I have a few in grey with various prints on the front and then a couple in brighter colours, just to liven up my wardrobe. Just because it's winter, it doesn't mean you have to wear all dark colours!
1. Dot checked jumper in Red, £15.99, Daisy Street
2. Fresh Varsity sweatshirt, £16.75, Forever 21
3. Black I Hate Mondays jumper, £19.99, New Look
4. Plum lace shoulder jersey knit, £18, Dorothy Perkins
A proper winter coat
I'm a firm believer in spending a bit more money on a coat; if it's decent, it should last you years. I got my favourite coat nearly 3 years ago in a sale; it was £90 down to £40 in River Island and I still wear it now! The only problem is it's great for keeping you warm but it doesn't have a hood! That's where the trusty parka comes in. I bought it this time last year and hopefully it will last me through this winter too. The good thing about coats is that they tend not to go out of fashion meaning you can wear it for years. This year, I'm going to invest in a new coat but I'm unsure of which one. Help me decide readers from the ones below!
1. Black biker long line coat, £49.99, New Look
2. Black Boucle Wool Mix Biker Coat, £54.99, New Look
3. Burgundy Boucle Wool Contrast Biker Coat, £59.99, New Look
4. Miss Real Navy or Burgundy Quilted Leather-Look Sleeve Coat, £54.99, New Look
Bottom half

Skinny jeans
Now I know they're a student essential anyway, but skinny jeans are perfect for winter. They're the ideal jeans to tuck into boots without having loads of excess denim around the leg. Obviously basic washes of denim are great for winter but don't put your coloured skinnies in the bin just yet; as long as they're paired with a darker top half, they're still wearable for the winter months. Also leather look jeans can look super stylish either dressed up or down.

Summer skirt
A summer staple this year was the skater skirt and you can still wear it for winter! Try a darker hue or a tartan/leopard print pattern, pair it with thick tights or leggings and you're good to go! It goes great with a sweatshirt or jumper for a cute daytime look.

For an updated look this season, try a skort. I've mentioned this on my blog before but I saw Kendall Jenner wearing one earlier this year and just had to purchase one. Now they're everywhere on the high street! I've got this plain black one but they're available in different colours and even tartan!
Mini skort, £25.99, Zara

Footwear
Now as much as I love my trusty Converse/Keds, they're not ideal for the winter. Invest in a pair of boots, girls! You don't have to spend a lot of money on them (I bought some black biker boots from Primark for £15!) but just make sure you have some. They'll keep your feet warm/dry when paired with thick socks. Tuck your leggings/tights/jeans into some thick socks (again try Primark) for a fashionable yet cosy look!

Accessories
  • Thick tights in black. Also try them in grey or other colours- experiment!
  • A snood. I've got 3 of them in bright blue, fuschia and purple. Because I wear such dark colours, I need a pop of colour sometimes!
  • A cute hat. Either a beret style or a beanie- up to you!
  • A bag that has a zip opening. When it rains, the last thing you want are your books/papers getting wet on your travels so go for a bag that has a zip and lots of compartments!

I've been giving out chances everytime...

And all you do is let me down. No matter how long we pretend that everything's okay between us, let's face it, it's really not. You can't find the time, I don't have the patience anymore. I can't wait around for you hoping that you'll come knocking at my door asking to try again. Maybe the old you would've done that, the guy I liked so much but the new version, he just doesn't seem the type. He ignores me when I need him most, barely acknowledges me when I see him out, priorities everything and everyone over me. That's the guy you said you'd never be yet here you are doing exactly that. You never seem to have a reason for leaving me in the lurch and you rarely apologise for being a dick. You know full well it's shitty behaviour but you do it anyway.

I'm gonna find someone someday who might actually treat me well. I thought that someone would be you. You're meant to be the good guy but as per usual, the good guy actually turns out to be a dickhead once I get involved with them. I get that you don't know what you're doing in a relationship but if I recall, I never even asked you for that. It's not difficult to just treat a girl right.

I stare at your photograph, still sleep in that shirt you left and nobody knows it but me. Maybe it's time I just got rid of your shirt but do I have the heart to do so? Probably not. Will I give it you back? Never.

Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much. Or maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up. Maybe it was all my fault, maybe I was too eager. But wouldn't you rather have someone care about you too much rather than not enough? I'm sure I would. But none of that matters now because I literally just give up. I can't be bothered to find time for someone who won't find time for me.

My October in Pictures: Part 2

October in general has been quite a dud month to be honest. I've spent most of the month trying to get my brain used to being back at uni, which is a stressful adjustment! But I have still managed to take photos of the most pointless things so here is the evidence!

1. (left) On the 12th I spent the day at Meadowhall with my parents and came across this amazing toy. It's Justin Beaver! It even sings Baby and I was obsessed from the moment I saw it. I freely admit I do have a soft spot for the Biebs!
2. (centre) On the same day, we ended up in Starbucks and the guy behind the counter ended up putting my mum's name on every drink. So I was my mum for the day!
3. (right) I do like a selfie. And I seem to have a thing for wearing cleavage-bearing tops at the moment. Don't judge me people, you might as well flaunt what you've got!

4. (left) I used to buy magazines on a weekly basis but then figured out it was costing me an absolute bomb so now I just buy Company, Glamour, Seventeen and Teen Vogue. This is the November issue of Company with one of my favourite actresses, Lucy Hale, gracing the cover. I love Pretty Little Liars so much!
5. (centre) This is my new blazer from Zara. I'd seen a similar one for £55 and then I saw this one was on sale for £20! Bargain! Plus I know tartan is back in fashion again and I love that this looks smart and quirky at the same time.
6. (right) On the 25th I went out for a meal with my family to celebrate my cousin's 18th birthday and wore this pink lace dress. I bought it a while ago off the Dorothy Perkins website but just haven't had an occasion to wear it! I paired it with nude peeptoe heels so I looked cute and put-together.

7. (left) On the following day, it was the start of the Rugby League World Cup 2013 so because I don't have an England shirt, I decided to wear an old-school Hull FC shirt circa 2004 or 2005 I think!
8. (centre) I bought this dress the other day because I loved it online but it just doesn't fit properly around my boobs. Gutted! :(
9. (right) On the 29th, the parents and I went to the pub for tea and I saw this on the menu. Everytime I see the words "buttery biscuit base" it just reminds me of Greg James on Radio 1 and this song.

So that's October done; hopefully November will be a better month for me personally and hopefully I've have some good photos to share with you all!

Style Crush: Kendall Jenner

I realise I've not done a fashion post in quite a while so I thought I'd try a new feature. I'd say I get my fashion inspiration from celebrities. I like looking online to see what they're wearing and then adapt it so it suits my style/figure. There are a few celebrities that I keep a close eye on in terms of fashion and Kendall Jenner is one of them. I'm a Kardashians/Jenner fan but only recently have the Jenner girls featured more on the show and this has allowed the public to see what their style is like. I'd say Kendall's style is my favourite out of the whole family despite her being nearly 3 years younger than me; she just has this effortless way about her as if she just grabs anything out of her wardrobe in a morning and still manages to look amazing. Her daytime looks are very cool but her night-time looks look just as fabulous! So here are my favourite 10 looks of hers:

First up is a red carpet look from the Project X film premiere in March 2012. Now the first thing I love about this look is the gorgeous periwinkle colour! It's not often you seen this shade of purple on the carpet; it's usually a lilac or a deep purple. I also love the mesh on the sleeves and at the side; it makes the dress look super expensive (which it probably is!) and young. I don't think the hemline is too short like many out there because it is balanced by the longer sleeves. The one thing I love about Kendall is she never wears too much make-up, even on the red carpet. She is a natural beauty! I really hope she never dyes her hair too because us natural brunettes need to keep it that way! To finish the look, she has paired it with a pair of nude suede peeptoes which accentuate her ridiculously long legs.

Next up is Kendall at the Lone Signal launch event in New York, just after Kim had her baby. I don't have a clue what the event was about but she looks amazing! As much as I love her in a dress, I love that she loves her jeans! Here she is wearing a white zip-up top which is a quirky item for her but fits her figure perfectly. Paired with black skinnies, this outfit looks perfect on her slim frame. The high-waisted jeans emphasise her skinny waist and super long legs once again! And that boots are just incredible and now on my wishlist. Because the look is very futuristic to match the event, I like that she has her hair back in a ponytail so it doesn't distract from the outfit itself.

The third look I've chosen is Kendall at the film premiere of The Vow. Now I am not the biggest fan of white dresses on myself but she just looks incredible. I like the simplicity of the shape of the dress and the brocade pattern on it. Again, she has opted for a shorter hemline but with those legs, why not? The beauty of a white dress is you can pretty much pair it with any colour shoes and she has opted for a bronze platform heel which I love! I like it because it's unexpected and a different colour.

Another aspect I like about this look is the red lip and up-do. Red lipstick looks so good on Kendall and her pale skin. The up-do keeps the outfit looking elegant and I like the loose tendrils in from of her face so her hair doesn't look too done.

Next is Kendall at the People's Choice Awards in January 2011. She is wearing a nude Bebe dress. Now I am a big fan of one-shouldered clothing (I just can't wear them because they never seem to stay up!) and I love the simplicity of this dress. I especially like the draping on the front and the black belt that cinches her in at the waist so the dress fits properly. The best part of the outfit for me is the fact that she wore flats on the red (well, blue) carpet, yes Kendall! It is well known that I love a brogue too so she gets a perfect 10 from me!

This outfit is from the Burlesque premiere in November 2010. Again, it is evident from my blog that I like leather so this dress had to be one of my favourites! I like the pattern on either side of the dress that breaks up the leather; I think an all-leather dress on such a young girl would just look a bit too dominatrix. I'm in love with these shoes too; if I had the money, they would definitely be in my wardrobe! The loose curls and light make-up keep the look looking fresh.

Next up is Kendall at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party in October 2010. Flats on a red carpet again Kendall, you rebel! When I saw this outfit back in 2010, it inspired me to go out and get a draped-front skirt and now I wear that skirt all the time! I love how age-appropriate this look is, from the crisp white shirt and bow tie to the bright green skirt and the brogues. From someone who usually hates the colour green, I love how this pops against her skintone!

Next is a more recent photo where you can see how elegant Kendall is as she's gotten older. I love how this dress just hugs her figure too. I like the mix of navy and nude, again proving that nude goes with everything! I also like the mesh on the shoulders. Paired with nude heels to elongate her legs further, the whole look just looks mature but not too old for her. I love how she never wears much jewellery either; her outfits are always simple but stylish.

Another more recent photo in April 2013 at an art gallery event with her dad. Here she is just wearing a simple black strapless dress and sky high wedges. Now I am in love with yet another pair of her shoes; these wedges would look good anyway but with the green/turquoise panel at the back, it makes them look just that bit more luxurious. Defying my point on the last week, she's opted for a necklace for this event. This works because the dress is so plain yet stunning, it needed a little extra pizzazz.

Next up is Kendall in one of my favourite outfits of the year worn by anyone! Taken in August 2013, she pairs a muscle tee from her and Kylie's PacSun collection with a Zara skort. As soon as I saw that this skort was from Zara, I knew I had to have it so I went out and purchased it straight away! I've also taken to pairing it with a casual top to avoid looking too overdressed. I love how the look is finished off with simple black heeled booties. Am I the only person who thinks she looks like Emily Ratajkowski aka the brunette girl from the Blurred Lines model? Not that that's a bad thing of course, they're both gorgeous!

Last but certainly not least is Kendall at another art gallery event in April 2013. I love how this outfit could be dressed up or down simply with a different pair of shoes. I like the studded shoulders on the vest and the leather leggings, highlighting her slender legs yet again (no wonder she's a model with pins like them!). Finished off with black patent heels and a red clutch, this look would be great on a more casual night out too.

How I Work Out

Exercise has always been a massive part of my life but my problem is staying motivated. I used to go to the gym most days but then after a month or so, I'd have two months off. This ended up being a complete waste of money so I cancelled my gym membership. However, I then felt disappointed in myself for doing so so decided to investigate into workouts I could do at home myself.

Currently I weigh 101lbs which I know to a lot of people would be a dream weight but it's the heaviest I've been. I don't have a target weight, but for me working out is to tone up my body and get my slim frame back.
Me the other night, pre-workout
I've had a set of mini dumbbells for quite a while now so I thought I might as well get some use out of them! After looking online for some inspiration of what exercises to do I found The Student Room which has a full list of basic dumbbell exercises. The full set takes very little time up and in order to see the full effects, increase the number of reps every week or so.

Another place I looked for inspiration was Twitter. There's so many great pages on there that post motivational photos and exercise ideas. My favourites include:

My Top Tips
  • Aim to work out different areas of your body each time i.e. weights/arms one day, abs the next. This way, you won't get bored of a workout.
  • Try making a workout playlist full of upbeat songs to help keep you motivated!
  • Don't work out for over an hour; aim for between 30-60 minutes in order to get the maximum out of your workout.
  • Keep a workout journal/folder. I print off exercises I find online and group them together as to what areas they target on the body.
  • Even if you don't think you have the time, you can do a tiny bit of exercise. Run up and down the stairs a few times, do a few squats whilst you're waiting for the kettle to boil or whilst you're brushing your teeth.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • My favourite workout is dancing. Stick on your favourite tunes and just dace around your room. You'll soon lose a fair few calories!
  • Yoga is a great, low intensity workout and is so great for your health and well-being.
  • Even if you're working out at home, invest in some decent workout gear. Sports bras, trainers, joggers.

My October in Pictures: Part 1

I'm one of those people who loves taking photos in general but thanks to Instagram, I now seem to take photos of the most pointless things! So I thought because of my love of photography (bear in mind, I like photos but I take poor photos), I'd start a new feature on my blog! So here is a taste of what I've been up to so far this month!

1. (left)  October 1st I went to a gig on my own (I was meant to be on a date but they stood me up!) and managed to steal the setlist and a couple of guitar picks. Groupie! The bands I saw were Continental Keys, The LaFontaines and Canterbury.
2. (right) I am too lazy to put my shoes away after I've worn them so this is the view of them as soon as you enter my room. As you can see, I like many different styles!

A selection of outfits from my first 2 weeks at uni.
3. (left) My new jumper from Dorothy Perkins, skinnies and my red Keds.
4. (centre) Zara thin kit top, black skinnies and my new biker boots.
5. (right) Zara crop top, my new New Look high-waisted shorts, tights and red Keds.

I would've had more outfits but I've spent 4 days of this week in bed ill :'(

6. (left) The creepiest cushion I have ever seen in Matalan. Thanks to my dad for being my assistant here!
7. (right) Again, top dad for buying me this chocolate! Night on the sofa the other night in my Perry the Platypus PJs.

Everyone should go check out the three bands I saw, they are all incredible! Check them out on Twitter: @contintentalkeys @TheLaFontaines @canterburymusic

So I hope you enjoyed the insight into my everyday life and hopefully when I'm feeling better, there'll be more photos for part 2!
