Today's Shopping Haul

I believe this is my first post of this time, which is strange because I'm always shopping! However, I tend to just buy a couple of things rather than a lot but today I had a bit of a haul. Mine seems like nothing compared to some bloggers' hauls! In fact they look like they've spent hundreds of pounds and I only spent £46.11!

As you can see, there's a bit of a range of items. Clothes, accessories, a few beauty products and of course some chocolate!

These Johnson's Face Wipes are usually around £3-4 for a pack of 25; I bought a twin pack so 50 wipes for £3! Because of my sensitive skin and eczema, I am unable to use a lot of skincare products because they react with my skin. I have been using these wipes for about a year now and refuse to use anything else now! The new face cloth/flannel is to match my new set of pink towels, how girly of me! I needed to stock up on make-up sponges as I'm running out and I thought it was time for a new comb. These fine-tooth combs can be quite difficult to find near me so 2 for £1 is such a godsend!

Finally, I decided to buy a couple of nail polishes. I have so many as it is but I thought I'd buy a couple more pastel colours. Both of these were £1; I don't see the point in buying top-of-the-range expensive nail polishes because I tend to apply 2-3 coats of them anyway. The first one is a grey colour and from Primark; the second is mint green and from Bodycare.

Next up are the new snoods I bought. I never used to wear scarves but since I've got loads of spring jackets to wear and it's a bit chilly, I thought I'd buy some more scarves. I've got plenty of knit ones but the only cotton one I have is black. I thought both of these would go perfectly with all of my leather jackets.

I just want to point out the gorgeous colours of them both. The pastel pink one is of course on-trend and the other is a light cream colour with grey and pink accents. Both are perfect for spring/summer and only cost me a total of £7 for them both!

I've been lusting after this skirt from H&M (similar style here) for a couple of months but thought I'd wait and see if I could find another one elsewhere. I failed miserably. Luckily, they had my size! I love the zip detail as well as the fact that it is quilted. Of course it's not real leather but it's only a fashion piece and for £14.99, you really can't go wrong!

I believe I put this on my H&M Wishlist post (see the post here) and I loved this cardigan even more in the store. It will be perfect for summer layered over a vest and shorts. I did find that my usual size was quite tight on the arms so I got the next size up. I was planning on getting it in a couple of colours but this was the only one I could find!

In yesterday's post, I mentioned how much I love Easter because of the chocolate. These are my second favourite Easter chocolate (behind Mini Eggs, of course); when I first saw them in the shops the other year, I didn't know what they would be like. Delicious is what they are!

Last but certainly not least are my new socks. I am addicted to buying socks. Since I've started working out more, I tend to wear trainer socks with my trainers (duh!) and thought it was time for some new ones. I genuinely love all 10 pairs of these. Often when you buy socks in a pack, there's a dud pair (i.e. plain) but all of these are patterned and lovely!

Things I'm Loving Right Now

1. Bloglovin'

I'm loving finding all these new bloggers right now! I tend to find new bloggers by seeing what posts the bloggers I follow have liked. It's an easy way to see all my favourite blogger's posts and I have no idea what I'd do without this website!

Jacy is my favourite blogger. I love how simple yet stylish all of her outfits are. The main reason I love her blog, apart from how pretty she is, is because she actually wears items more than once! Some bloggers I've noticed never seem to wear an item more than once which I find ridiculous but Jacy find pieces she loves and works them into her wardrobe. My favourite posts of hers are the remix posts in which she picks one item she loves and she styles it with three different outfits.

3. Mini Eggs

Easter is my favourite celebration because of the chocolate, duh! Now I love most types of milk chocolate but only at Easter do these bad boys come out. I buy these in bulk usually because I am that obsessed with them!

4. Boyfriend Jeans

I realllllllly want a pair of boyfriend jeans. A girl at work was saying how much I'd suit a pair but the last time I had them a couple of years ago, they just ended up making me look frumpy and laddish. These jeans are from H&M and I like the look of them because they're a skinny fit.

5. My Boyfriend

The picture quality is rubbish I know but this guy means everything to me. I've only known Tom since November but now I couldn't imagine life without him. Never did I ever think someone would understand me so well but he really does. He puts up with a lot of my crap and is so supportive of me and I'm so incredibly lucky to have such an amazing boyfriend. He's the first guy I've ever felt fully comfortable with and I know we're going to have a long and happy future together.

Liebster Award

I was overjoyed when I woke up this morning to see that I'd been nominated for my very first Liebster Award by Nichole from Upbeat Uplifts so thank you Nichole!

I love this award as it is an award given to bloggers by fellow bloggers! In today's society us girls always seem to be tearing each other down so I love how this award allows you to support others just like you. Plus I love finding out more about new bloggers.

The rules for the award are as follows:1. Create a post and answer the 11 questions the tagger set for you.
2. Nominate 11 people under 200 followers and link them in your post.
3. Create 11 questions for them.
4. Let them know they have been nominated.
5. No tag backs!

Here are my questions from Nichole:
1. What has surprised you most about blogging so far?
I think the biggest surprise has been how nice other bloggers are. The media portray bloggers are catty and bitchy towards one another but every blogger who I've been in contacted with has been nothing but supportive and kind. Like I said earlier, we need to continue the support for new bloggers because I love having to hear what people say!

2. Where is your favourite place to eat out?
I love fast food but I prefer a sit down meal so I love Nando's and Pizza Hut (who doesn't?). Locally, my favourite cafe is Caffe Mocha in Hull and I have a huge love of Chinese food so I love Aroma.

3. What do you hope to be doing a few years down the road?
I hope I've graduated from university, hopefully gained my journalism qualifications and got a decent job somewhere, hopefully in journalism or PR/marketing. I also hope that when I'm in a secure job, I'm happy with my life and hopefully married to my current boyfriend with kids on the horizon!

4. If you could move anywhere where would it be?
Being from a city, I can't see myself living anywhere but a city. I'd love to live somewhere a bit more livelier with more things to do, such as London. But my ultimate dream is New York. It's the heart of fashion of course!

5. Do you have a certain fashion style?
Does dark count as a fashion style? I wear a lot of dark colours so my style can be quite rock-chic most of the time but then some days I dress really preppy (Blair Waldorf and Rachel Berry are my style icons!). When I'm with my boyfriend, he's super smart all the time so I tend to dress quite girly. So my answer is not really!

6. Who inspires you?
I get inspiration from all over. Fellow bloggers, general public (if I see an outfit on someone, I look to see if I can replicate it), my family, my boyfriend, my friends. One of my biggest inspirations is Steve Prescott (more about him here). As a huge rugby league fan, the man taught me to never give up, no matter what your circumstances are. He's my hero.

7. What is your go-to beauty product?
Oooh good question. I don't wear a huge amount of make-up usually but if I do, it's concealer, eyeliner, mascara. My top beauty buy of all time has to be Rimmel Soft Khol Kajal Eye Pencil. I've used it for years and will not use any other eyeliner.

8. Do you have an ideal date night?
Having been with my boyfriend a couple of months now, we've pretty much been on every date possible in Hull. As much as I love going out for food, I love going bowling with him and I also love date nights in. Takeaway, movies and cuddles. Can't beat it.

9. What is your favourite childhood memory?
I blogged the other day about my childhood in dance so I guess all my memories are to do with that. I spent about 12 years dancing so the whole of that I would have to say!

10. If you have had a bad day is there something/someone who cheers me up?
Dancing always cheers me up or exercise in general. Either that or stuffing my face with junk food (pizza, Haribo, chocolate). My boyfriend's very good at cheering me up when I'm down; he'll send me a cute text or if I'm with him, he'll just cuddle me until I'm okay. He's a keeper!

11. Why do you blog?
For my future career, it shows I have some initiative and can actually write. I blog because I like to air my opinions on things but give fair judgement. I also blog as an escape from daily life.

I nominate:
Sascha from The Finest Things
Madeline from Cappuccino and Fashion
Tiny from Life as a Petite
Anna at Styleskittle
Becky at Becky's Trinket
Joanna at Simply Redhead
Alex from Champagne and Lemonade

My questions for you are:
1. How did you come up with the name of your blog?
2. What are your future career aspirations?
3. Do you think that bloggers get bad press and explain why.
4. What are your top 5 favourite films?
5. Who are your style icons?
6. What are your favourite things to do on a day off?
7. What's your most embarrassing moment?
8. What is your best beauty buy ever?
9. What inspired you to start blogging?
10. What are the 3 clothing items you can't live without?
11. Describe yourself in 3 words.

H&M Wishlist

Wednesday night was date night and because my boyfriend was running late, I decided to have a look around a few shops in my local city centre. In St Stephens (our mini shopping centre for high street clothes), the first shop is H&M. I spent about 20 minutes browsing in there and found so many items I wanted to buy! I'm trying to save over the next month as I'm going to Liverpool at Easter but I don't know if I'll be able to wait that long! As my style icon right now is Rachel Berry in Season 4 of Glee, I tend to gravitate to darker pieces rather than colour. I like a pop of colour but tend to stick with blacks, greys and navys. I didn't see all of these items in-store but here are my picks from the website.

h&m tops

Now that spring is finally here, I hope it's time to ditch the heavy coats and finally wear all my leather jackets and lighter cardigans. Now 1 and 2 are the perfect lightweight cardis more so for summer. They're a really fine knit and will look great over dresses, skirts, shorts, everything really! And at only £9.99 and with 6 colours/patterns to choose from, I might buy a couple! Pastels are a big trend for S/S '14 and 3 would be the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I already own a couple of blazers but they're all dark coloured. This would look great over darker clothes to make them seem less wintery and more summery. Denim jackets are in every single summer because they look cute over summer dresses and 4 is exactly what a denim jacket should look like. It's a classic piece that should be in every girl's summer wardrobe so you'll wear it for years to come; it comes in 3 different washes too so you can decide which you like the most! Once the weather gets a bit warmer, I can't wait to wear vest such as 5 and 6. The white vest will go perfectly with denim shorts or even jeans on a cooler day and the stripey bustier will also look cute with denim. Stripes are a big part of my wardrobe; they're easy to wear and 7 will look great with black skinny jeans during the spring. 8 and 9 are a little more rock and roll. If you read my blog regularly, you'll know I love leather accents on clothes. These would be perfect for wearing to uni with a pair of skinny jeans and at £12.99, they're a bargain too! Similarly 10 and 11 would look equally as good with jeans or even a black mini skirt or leather skirt!

h&m shirts

I've been looking for a white sleeveless shirt for aaaaaaages and 1 is perfect for what I want. I've got loads of black skirts and this would go great with them all! More denim for summer and 2 would look cute tucked into a patterned skirt or shorts. Now red is definitely my colour (due to the dark hair and dark eyes) and 3 would look perfect for summer when paired with light wash denim shorts. The best thing about all 3 of these shirts is that they can be dressed up or down! 4 is more for spring rather than summer but I'd wear that now for uni with my leather jacket and black biker skinnies. Plaid and denim shirts are great as wearing as a cover-up during summer when it's a bit windy. 5 would look great with darker colours whereas 6 would suit more pastels and patterns.

h&m dresses/jumpsuits

It's not often that I wear a dress even though I have loads of them! All of these dresses/jumpsuits will look great paired with simple flats. 1 and 2 are both jersey dresses so they're a bit thicker than 3 and 4 which are chiffon. The chiffon dresses tend to look nicer dressed up too. Any neckline I see like 5 just remind me of Sandy in Grease! This dress is figure-hugging at its finest and will look really sophisticated with a simple black heel. 6 is perfect for summer; just don't pair it with a denim jacket of the same colour or you'll look like the fifth member of B*Witched! More stripes for summer and I love the cut of 7. Shirt dresses are super flattering on all figures. 8 would look fab with tan accessories for a cute day out somewhere. Finally, both 9 and 10 are jumpsuits. I only own one jumpsuits as being petite, they never seen to fit me properly. These two are lightweight and will look great with sandals during the warmer months.

h&m skirts

I have way too many skirts already in my wardrobe but will that stop me from buying more? Not a chance! 1 is a great nod to the pastel trend. Skater skirts also happen to suit every body shape so that's why I love 2 and 3 aswell! The colour of 4 is so pretty. You might have seen it on the adverts featuring Miranda Kerr as it's new in. It will look great paired with a white vest and flats. I'm not usually one to wear patterns but 5 and 6 would go great with a neutral coloured vest and flats. I'm still on the search for a leather skirt that fits perfectly so 7 is yet another one I will have to try on. 8 again will look great with a simple black or white vest; it only costs £3.99 and it fits like a glove. I have the same skirt in black, grey, navy and burgundy and I wear them all the time.

h&m botttoms

You can't tell from the photo but 1 is actually meant to be a khaki colour. I find jeans shopping really difficult because I'm short but these look like a lighter fabric. I also really want some boyfriend jeans for summer but again, it's hard to find them where they don't look too baggy on my small frame. 2 are a skinny fit; they taper off towards the bottom so I need to go and try a pair of these on! They come in a couple of different washes too; I prefer the slightly darker wash myself. 3 are actually a pair of jeggings but I like the biker style knee on them. I've got a black pair of jeans with this on and they just make every outfit a bit more rock. 4 are once again on the new adverts and they would be great if you are lounging about at home or need to pop out to the shops. Wear them with a loose t-shirt and sneakers and you'll look cool but casual. And summer is not complete without a pair of denim shorts. 5 look like the perfect length for me. I like shorts to cover my bum and I like the light, almost acid, wash to them.

h&m accessories

H&M is not usually a place I look for bags and shoes (I tend to go to Zara for bags and New Look for shoes) but all of these look super stylish. A tan satchel never goes out of style and I like that shape of 1. If you want a less traditional-style satchel, 2 is great for you. You can choose from 3 patterns and all of them look fab. 3 will look great paired with a summer dress and denim jacket. These type of boots are all over the high street and 4 look like the heel is just the right height. I hate heels; I find them uncomfy but the height of these is ideal to walk around in. Another tan bag at 5; this one looks a whole lot more expensive than it is! I mostly own dark coloured bags (I'm always putting them on the floor at uni and they're easier to clean) but 6 is a really cool bag. I love the slouchy look of it and the fact it has a long strap as well as two short ones.

The main reason I love H&M? The prices. Not one of these items is over £29.99. Yes, it might not be the place to go for an investment piece of clothing but for trends and disposable fashion, I don't think you can beat it. The clothes are good quality and fit really well too. I like to look in out-of-town stores as well as my local one because they tend to stock the odd different items. If you're after cheap but stylish pieces, it's the place to go!

My New Obsession: Dance Moms

If you've never seen this show and you have a dance background or just a love of dance, I suggest you give it a watch. Now I love dance, I used to live to dance. I'll give you a bit of information of my background in dance before I go into details on the TV show.

From the age of 2, my mum took me to a local dance school where I would go every Saturday for ballet, tap and modern lessons. As I got older, I started going more nights after school. At the age of 11, I switched dance schools so I could try more styles of dance (contemporary, street) as well as musical theatre. It was at this age that I discovered that I loved tap dance the most; that was the main reason for moving dance schools. For a couple of years, I loved going to dance class every night after school. I was good too. Not to brag or anything but I was always in the top class, I frequently won medals at competitions, I was always on the front line in shows. But at the age of 11, I realised that I was never going to be a dancer. In fairness, I didn't really want to be a dancer; a dancer's career is so short-lived and with very little pay too but I enjoyed dance, it was my passion. Age 11 is definitely the age where it gets a whole lot more serious; you audition for dance schools and are expected to go to rehearsals for three hours every night straight from school. If you do ballet, that's the age you start to go on pointe and I absolutely hated it. When I got to 13, I decided enough was enough; I realised that I was smarter at school than I was a good dancer. That's the age I stopped going to most classes, I dropped every type of dance apart from tap and street but after a year, it just wasn't fun anymore. I needed to concentrate on my GCSEs and fortunately my dance teacher understood my decision. All of my friends from dance disowned me because they felt I was choosing between school and dance and I was. As much as I loved a childhood in dance, I also missed out on a lot of things. Birthdays, I had no time to hang out with my friends, I was always missing school so I could perform in shows. Dance was my life. I'd go to school, go to dance and then go to bed.

1. My first ever dance show where we did a Swan Lake number. I still have that costume!
2. The year I was one of the seven dwarves in panto.
3. A winning group number.
4. My first ever dance show again and this was the tap number.
5. My favourite ballet group number ever; we were schoolchildren going on a trip to the zoo.
6. A Bug's Life.
7. I won my first solo in ballet at the age of 6.
8. No ida what this number was but I know it's at Middleton Hall at Hull Uni where I currently study!
9. Doll On A Music Box from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Now Dance Moms is a fantastic show; the kids are amazingly talented, more than I ever was. Yet the way the dance teacher treats them is unacceptable. This show should represent people who are passionate about dance and the girls are, but they don't always look like they're having fun. That's what dance is meant to be about.

To start with, the mothers in it are awful sometimes. They shout at each other, they argue with the teacher, they sit in on rehearsals, the show is all about them. At my dance school, the parents just used to drop the kids off and come back later. Yes, they had to take care of costumes for competitions and shows if we were doing solos but they never had to make them. They just had to fund our dancing.

Secondly, Abby Lee Miller, the dance teacher, is vicious. The way that she treats the kids is bordering on child abuse. Yes it is fair to give critique but she does it in such a demeaning way. My dance teacher was always fair. She's tell you if you were doing something wrong but never would she verbally abuse you in front of your peers.

Another point that annoys me is how Abby denies that she has a favourite but she does. My dance teacher had a favourite group of around 7 or 8 in each class purely because they were more talented. Lucky for me, I was in this group but every person had a preferred style of dance and she appreciated that. My strong suits were tap and ballet but I was not the best at modern as I'm not the most flexible of dancers. Yet she never pitted us against each other deliberately.

The costumes are so inappropriate too. They dance around in "costumes" that barely cover their bodies. Bear in mind the kids on the show are about 7-13 in the main competition group. I never once felt uncomfortable in a costume. If it was for a solo, I got input into the design; if it was a group number, my dance teachers would never put us in anything revealing. In Dance Moms, Abby is in charge of all costumes and if the mums find them inappropriate, she never listens. Sometimes the costumes are that bad, they get disqualified from the competitions because the judges feel that the dance and costumes sexualise the children.

Finally, the competition aspect of the show is my biggest pet peeve. They do a different competition anywhere in the country every weekend so the dancers and their mums have to travel the country competing. Let's not forget that the US is much bigger than the UK so travelling could be a 7 hour coach ride. The furthest I ever went was Scunthorpe and that was always during the holidays. In fact all competitions were during school holidays. I also used to go to a Saturday morning ballet class in York that I had to initially audition for. Out of about 100 girls that auditioned, only 5 of us got in. I quit after a few months because it was exhausting. It cost my parents a fortune for costumes and entry money for competitions yet it seems nothing compared to the amount they must pay on the show!

Maybe American dance schools are like that but the ones I've competed against in the UK are nothing like that. I feel that people who watch the show will think that the world of dance is an awful world to be in. I guarantee it is not; competition can be healthy and you learn valuable lessons such as teamwork as well as the dance skills. As much as I would've loved a normal childhood, I wouldn't give up my dance background for anything. It was only at the very end that I stopped enjoying it. Now I am part of the performing arts society at uni, I'm found my love of dance again. I think I love dance because I know it's something that I'm good at. I just feel bad for my parents because they invested so much money into it and nothing came of it in the end.

Love Is All You Need

So lately I realise I've been pretty quiet on the blogging front but I have had such a busy past few days. Along with uni and work, I made a big step in my personal life. I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time last weekend. Now I may be 21 but I've never actually met a guy's parents before so it was a huge deal to me. I don't think I've ever been so nervous before! My boyfriend, Tom, was trying to reassure me that it would all be fine but I couldn't help but want to impress them. First impressions are so important in society nowadays so I just wanted for them to approve of me. In the end, I had absolutely no idea why I was so nervous! They were so chilled out and lovely and made me feel so at home that I've stayed there for the past 2 weekends now. All we do is just sit and chat and stuff our faces with pizza but it's such a lovely time. But one thing that Tom's mum said really stuck in my mind. She'd been chatting to her work friends about meeting me (one of which happens to be a distant relative) and she told them that we were perfectly matched. Genuinely, that made me smile so much. Yes, of course I think that my boyfriend and I are a perfect match but to hear someone else say it, it really did make my day. It felt so good for someone outside of our relationship to say we suit each other so well and the fact that it was his mum was the first one to say it meant a lot. We're very happy together and now the next step is Tom meeting my parents but it seems that they don't really care too much (I'm mad at them for not showing much of an interest!). Hopefully that will iron out soon.

My February in Pictures

So February was an exciting month for me. I got a new boyfriend at the end of January so I've been trying to see him as much as possible, I started semester two at uni and went to see my favourite singer ever, Taylor Swift!

1. The doorbell range in B&Q. Who would've ever thought that you could pick so many sounds? Our doorbell is now the sound of a dog barking.
2. My super cute new PJ top. Primark PJs are the best!
3. I really tried to start working out more at the beginning of the month. This is one of my new sports bras.
4. Valentine's week was a big one for me! Lots to do!
5. More new workout gear from Forever 21.
6. On the 10th, we left Hull.
7. The O2 in London.
8. Inside the O2 getting ready to see Taylor Swift!
9. Sporting my Keds, Taylor would be proud.
10. Just before Taylor came on the stage for the RED tour!
11. The night before Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I went to a pub for curry club for a low-key date for our first Valentine's together and this was my outfit. Red of course ;-)
12. On actual Valentine's, we went to see our favourite rugby team, Hull FC, play their first game of the Super League season! The boy did good, right?
13. My new t-shirt is the best.
14. After London, I had an awful cold for about 2 weeks so my little spoon has been my water bottle.
15. This outfit was perfect to wear to uni and then on a coffee date afterwards.
16. Dance rehearsals at uni mean I need to wear something practical that I can dance in!
17. The world's smallest hot chocolate that cost £1.60. What a rip off, Hull Uni Business School!
18. My favourite album right now is Daughtry's Baptized.
19. Twister ice lollies are my fave but these are made with real fruit juices. Does this mean that it's one of my five-a-day?
20. Finally my body is getting back into shape.
As you can see, my month has pretty much consisted of uni, dates and working out. In regards to dates, I'm really happy with my boyfriend; it's early days but we're very serious about each other but still having lots of fun together! My workouts have slowed down a bit; at the start of the month, I was working out for about an hour 3-5 times a week. However, the last week of the month, I had a lot going on so I had to just maintain a small workout every day. These are the two workouts I've been doing:

They don't require too much time; I tend to do them in a morning when I've just woken up. When I get chance, I try and fit in a longer workout but at least this way, I'm doing something small every day. I also try to walk as much as possible and have been cutting down on junk food.

How was your February? Did any of you go to see Taylor Swift? Does anyone have any workout tips for me?

Oscars 2014 Red Carpet: The Fashion

I'm so annoyed with myself for not watching the red carpet coverage of The Oscars last night live on E! so I'm watching it now whilst blogging. I love doing these red carpet review posts; I get to look at all the stunning dresses and pick out my favourites! Last night, there were a few trends that I spotted when going through the pictures so here they are!

1. Olivia Wilde in Valentino
2. Charlize Theron in Dior
3. Anna Kendrick in J.Mendel
First up, black was a trend that was seen on quite a few dresses. Olivia, Charlize and Anna went for plain black material here. Olivia, showing off her baby bump in Valentinio, is glowing in this high neck gown. As much as I love black, I feel that this dress is a bit drab on her. I know she has to dress the bump too but she could've chosen something else. I like the strip of white at the back though! Next up is Charlize; she looks stunning in her Dior dress. I love the cleavage-bearing front of the dress; it's showing enough skin without showing too much. I also love the clear straps although that does remind me of my old dance costumes! Finally is Anna; now many folk do not like this dress at all. The J.Mendel number, I really like! I like the bodice of tulle which is really eye-catching and then it leads into this mesh pattern waist. The only issue I have is that the split at the front is a really odd length.

1. Emma Watson in Vera Wang
2. Julia Roberts in Givenchy
3. Anne Hathaway in Gucci
4. Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent
More black right now. Now this was Emma Watson's first time to the Oscars and boy does she look amazing! This semi-sheer number is full of shimmer and it fits her body perfectly! I like how it catches the light too. Next is Julia Roberts; this Givenchy gown is so understated that it stands out to me! I love the lace and peplum but the best thing about this dress is that it would work if it was cut off at the knee as a cocktail dress! Next is Anne Hathaway in this Gucci halterneck dress; I love the jewelled front and waist detail and the slit up the back. I like how she's kept it low key and simple but oh so beautiful. Last is Margot Robbie. The usual blonde has died her locks to a dark brown and she looks stunning! I love the gothic make-up look she's gone for, I'm obsessed with the plum lip! However, I'm more obsessed with the dress! I love the sequinned bodice and that bow at the back, wow!

1. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
2. Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen
3. Louise Roe in Pronovias
4. Olga Kurylenko in Alice Elia
5. Amy Adams in Gucci
6. Bette Midler in Reem Acra
I love that jewel tones were a force to be reckoned with. As much as I love black, a red carpet needs colour other than the carpet itself! First up is J.Law, everybody's favourite woman, in this orange Dior gown. For once, I'm not massively impressed! Maybe it's because I hate orange but I just wish she'd have worn something a bit more wow; she was nominated after all! Sandra Bullock, here in Alexander McQueen, looks gorgeous in this midnight blue dress. I love the detail at the waist and the dress fits her amazingly! Next up is Louise Roe in this Pronovias Grecian gown. I love the colour and it goes so well with her skintone and hair colour. I love the lace sleeve too! Olga Kurylenko stunned in this Alice Elia eco-dress showing that fashion can be sustainable and good for the environment! The pinky-red colour again matches her skintone! Amy Adams in Gucci looks stunning yet oh so simple. This blue colour is one of my favourites too. I was glad she did something less cleavage-bearing because she's done that a lot this red carpet season. Finally is Bette Midler in Reem Acra. Now she is an absolute ledgend and this dress looks amazing on her! It hugs her curves perfectly!

1. Lupita Nyong'o in Prada
2. Penelope Cruz in Giambattista Valli Couture
3. Lady Gaga in Versace
4. Kerry Washington in Jason Wu
5. Camilla Alves in Gabriela Cadena
6. Jada Pinkett Smith in Versace
Pastels are a strong trend for spring/summer 2014 so I'm glad some of the celebrities opted for them! First up is the woman of the moment, Lupita. She has had an amazing red carpet season, both in terms of fashion and awards, and she does not disappoint in this baby blue number! I love how she's gone for showing off a bit of cleavage and I love the headband! Penelope Cruz stunned in this one-shouldered gown. I like how it sits on the shoulder and I like that the black belt breaks up the dress because there is a lot of material here! Next up is Lady Gage who for once has nailed it in a dress! Usually I'm not a massive fan of her red carpet looks (she's a bit too OTT for me) but here she looks amazing! It looks like it's a lilac colour and I love how it hugs her body! Next is Kerry Washington who is one of my red carpet faves. Here, in Jason Wu, she looks so elegant. I love the purpley grey colour and the column dress is perfect for a baby bump! Camilla Alves in Gabriela Cadena is beautiful. There's a lot of material again here but because she's so modelesque, it doesn't overwhelm her. Finally is Jada Pinkett Smith in Versace and I love this dress! I love the colour and the neckline.

1. Kristen Bell in Roberto Cavalli
2. Kelly Osbourne in Badgley Mischka
3. Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein
4. Kristin Cavallari in Alexander McQueen
Normally I hate white but it really suits some people, plus it's bang on-trend. First up is Kristen Bell in this gorgeous Roberto Cavalli dress; I like how she always keeps it simple and this dress is perfect for her. Next is Kelly Osbourne in this white gown. I love the beaded overlay too and how she's accessoriesed with an umbrella! Naomi Watts is someone I love seeing on the red carpet; she just knows what suits her. Here in a white Calvin Klein column dress, the look is simple yet so beautiful and elegant. Finally is Kristin Cavallari. Now what she is doing at the Oscars, I have no idea but she looks stunning in this Alexander McQueen number! I love the sleeve details too, this is how you style a baby bump!

1. Maria Menounos in Johanna Johnson
2. Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace
3. Jennifer Garner in Oscar de la Renta
4. Jennifer Biel in Chanel Haute Couture
Sparkles and metallics are always on the red carpet which is probably what I would wear if I went on a red carpet! First is Maria in Johanna Johnson; I love how simple and elegant this dress is and I love how it fits her body. Next is Kate Hudson in one of my favourite looks of the night. This dress is a showstopper; it still would be without the draped back detail but with it, it makes the look spectactular. I love the plunging neckline too! Next is Jennifer Garner in this sparkly column dress by Oscar de la Renta. I like how she kept it low-key with the accessories to let the dress take centre stage. In a similar number, Jessica Biel looks equally as beautiful in Chanel. It has a pattern to the sequins which keeps it from looking drab too.

So there you have it. My best dressed were Emma Watson, Margot Robbie, Kate Hudson, Lupita Nyong'o and Naomi Watts but I thought most people looked incredible!
